Wednesday Night Not-a-Crit
When:6:00 pm, the last Wednesday of the month (6/25/08, 7/30/08, 8/27/08, 9/24/08)SPECIAL EVENT: Saturday, September 27, 2008 -- 5:00 pm
Where: Neiman Marcus Loop, Longview Industrial Park
START/FINISH is on Big Oak Blvd, as you approach the turn to Cargill Dr.
What: A series of training rides intended to simulate criteriums.
The course is approximately 1 mile in length. There are four corners, one little "hill," and some nice smooth pavement. We'll start on Big Oak Blvd in a clockwise direction to Robert Cargill Dr., Neiman Marcus Pkwy, Ledco Dr. and then back onto Big Oak for a finish just atop the small hill.
SCHEDULE:
5:00 pm -- Sign-ups, Roll-Call, yadda, yadda, yadda
5:15 pm -- Event #1 - Points Race (12 laps): The first three riders on each lap will score points (3,2,1). The final lap (bell lap) will be worth 5, 3 and 2 points, respectively. Any rider who laps the field will get 20 points. Very simply, the rider with the most points is the winner.
6:00 pm -- Event #2 - Miss-N-Out (10 laps): On each lap, the last rider to cross the line will be pulled from the event. On the final lap (bell lap) the first 3 positions will be scored.
6:45 pm (approximately) -- Event #3 - Criterium (30 minutes): A "typical" criterium with primes on various laps. The first three positions will be scored.
NOTE: Do all three events or pick and choose. Just be at the start/finish line 5 minutes before the start of each event.
Note that this is a training ride and not a race. We don't have "rules" but do have a few strong suggestions:
1. If a car is around, everyone goes neutral
2. Ride safely and predictably (hold your line)
3. The corner of Neiman Marcus Pkwy and Cargill Dr. deserves extra caution -- Go neutral
4. Helmets are required
5. Be respectful of property (LEDCO has given us permission to use this course, let's use it well)
6. Everything else . . .
As this is a training ride and not a race, there is not an overall winner. However, we will have a few primes. Come on out, ride a few laps, laugh a little bit, and maybe win some cool swag.
